During our DQJumpstart classes we cover all of the Underlying Concepts of the Conformed Dimensions of Data Quality. In preparation for the release of Dan’s book, Data Quality Techniques, in July of 20226, we’re releasing the illustrative corporate database called the ABC Company which includes all of the DQ issues covered in our DQJumpstart class. This ABC Company schema comes with its own ANSI SQL database to illustrate the Conformed Dimensions. Individuals can access this database, conduct their own data profiling and learn the CDDQ Underlying Concepts for free.
But this wasn’t enough. We realized that one of the reasons organizations haven’t fully embraced the CDDQ so far was that each DQ issue hasn’t been explicitly articulated as a data quality rule and organizations don’t have a system to track the issues as they arise.
Our conclusion was that DQMatters needed to develop a DQ repository that enables CDDQ users to store their data quality rules, in one single place, allowing them to pick from rules in a simple drop down format. Then multiply resources by leveraging DQ rules developed by other Open DQ Repository users.

So how is this tool different from the large expensive and multi-domain (e.g. MDM, Metadata, DG) tools sold by IBM, Collibra and others?
Organizations need a warehouse-like data structure for monitoring DQ issues based on the CDDQ with extensibility to control their own architectural needs. The large vendors, for well thought out reasons, don’t allow individual organizations to add the Conformed Dimensions to their DQ tools. Furthermore, these platforms don’t store DQ results collected from in-house scanners, profilers, APIs and in-person observations. DQMatters’ customers and organizations like yours, have asked for a well designed, thoroughly tested, repository to do this.
